UnitedGREEN has sponsored a series of seminars focused on green energy, green building, and green jobs. UnitedGREEN’s Forging a Sustainable Future event series begun on November 12th and 13th at Irwin M. Jacobs Hall at Qualcomm Corporate Headquarters in Sorrento Valley. This two-part event covers a wide array of topics including green building, green job training, building sustainable communities, community redevelopment, renewable energy sources, community centered architecture, and green transportation.
The Forging A Sustainable Future Symposium II planned for March 3 & 4th, 2012, has panels that will focus on Food, Energy, and Water Sustainability with reports on the progress since the November Symposium in the areas of Transportation , Education, and Employment.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Environmental Law Professor and Keynote Speaker, will be amongst the array of guests and panelists attending the event. Other speakers will include local environmental consult-ant Jim Bell; Dr. Tony Haymet, UCSD, Scripps Institute of Oceanography; Andrew Berg, NECA; San Diego Councilmembers Marti Emerald and Todd Gloria; Dr. Heather Honea, Economics professor; Jim Waring, former Asst. to the mayor and CleanTECH San Diego Exec Director; Professor Oscar Romo, Coordinator , Tijuana River Estuary; Bill Powers, Ecological Engineer and Entrepreneur; Dr. Bill Roley, applied ecologist, environmental instructor and consultant, and founder of the Permaculture Institute of Southern California.
